5 Signs That You Are An Introverted Extrovert

Ambivert: A person who has a balance of extrovert and introvert features in their personality. This is a word that I only recently discovered but has freed me after years of wondering why I never really fitted into either category.

Here are 5 things about me that made me question which category I fit into but are actually aspects of being both introverted and extroverted. Please note that everyone is somewhere on the scale some people have slightly more introverted features than extrovert and vise versa. Feel free to add more to this list!

1) You love being on your own

My happy place is when I’m doing something on my own. Whether it’s reading a book in bed or hosting a cooking show by myself in the kitchen. Alone time is important for all personality types but for those who are more introverted, it is where you get your energy from.

2) FOMO is real

FOMO: Fear of missing out. As mentioned above, I love being alone… however, that is not an excuse not to invite me to the next games night. There is nothing worse than seeing all the fun your friends got up to on social media that you completely missed out on. Us ambiverts want to be included in the fun!

3)Personality Quizzes are never Quite Right

I hate personality quizzes, you know the ones where you spend ages answering a bunch of questions and only to be given a description that is, at best, a vague summary of one side of your personality. Everyone else in the room is exclaiming how accurate it is and you are sat there scratching your head. Don’t fear! You are most likely an ambivert. And that’s normal too.

4) Socialising with unfamiliar people – Worst Nightmare

Most people who know me would say I am pretty confident, which is semi-true (through a lot of work). However one thing I still haven’t quite gotten over is my fear of socialising with large groups of unknown people. I can only describe it as an internal panic that makes me what to sprint to the nearest exit. Most* of the time though, once I’ve started talking to a few people, I find that it isn’t as awful as I made it out in my head. Still doesn’t stop the cycle repeating the next time though.

5) You give yourself a pep talk before talking to people

“The conversation really flows when you are around”. Best Complement I Have Ever Received. Mainly because I am naturally a very awkward person and its taken years of internal pep talks to get to the point where I can go up to a new person and start and end conversations naturally and confidently. And its still something I do on a daily basis.

For all my ambiverts out there, you are not odd! Keep being you.

(Pardon the expression, but seriously, your blog is wonderful) Anyway, I’m not sure if you do blogger tags, but if you do, I’ve nominated you for the Versatile Blogger Awards over here: https://thetimequintet.wordpress.com/2017/07/20/versatile-blogger-award/
